The Summer Hill Smiles site has been developed in WordPress, with a custom developed version of a theme called Divi. It’s very flexible and allows a lot of functionality for you and your business. The more you work with it, the more comfortable you’ll be when editing text, adding images, etc.

If there’s a page you want to update or edit copy on – just pop to “All pages” in the lefthand toolbar, hover over the page and select ‘Edit’ for the page you want to edit. Default is the Divi builder – where your pages are divided into content blocks… You find the content block you want to update, open it, edit the content within it and update that content – and then click Update on the right hand side. It can be confusing at first, but it’s a very precise method of placing content on the page, especially for responsive sites. There is also the visual builder (see below)

If you want to learn a bit more about Divi, you can access specific training videos and documentation on the different modules and options. You can view Divi Training here.
Or by going to Appearance > Divi Training in the lefthand toolbar.

If you have any further questions or concerns, or need to expand the functionality of your site and need me to consult – please feel free to send me an email: nathan@nathanrodger.com

Visual Builder

Divi is also good for sites like this where you, the client, own the content and edit your site – because it now offers the Visual Builder. After log in you can go to the page you want to edit, and literally click and edit in the page. This can be good for small adjustments to text/copy on the page. Otherwise you edit in the backend, and find the content block you want to edit. It does make it look magic, but even I’ve gotten caught with the visual builder not being as precise or selecting the specific area of a page I want to make changes to. Have a play if you like!
